Photo Stories
During the pandemic between 2020 and 2021, with rising reports of anti-Asian hate crimes across Canada and around the world, we asked Asian youth living in the GTA about their perspective on anti-Asian racism and reflect on its impact on their identity, relationships, and mental health.
Youth were invited to share their experiences through photography, visual arts, and written descriptions. We received a total of 32 submissions. Findings from the project indicate that, for many Asian youth, their development is affected by racialization. This inspired the following Uncomfy Convos and Youth Focus Groups.
