UNCOMFY CONVOS
Talking about race can be uncomfortable.
Inspired by Emmanuel Acho’s YouTube series “Uncomfortable Conversation with a Black Man”, “Uncomfy Convos” is a series of four Instagram lives led by Youth Worker Joyce Chu (Hong Fook Mental Health Association), with the aim to promote dialogue about anti-Asian racism.
Each live features a guest speaker from different areas of the Asian Community, including Youth, academics, and artists, about their lived experiences and honest opinions about being Asian and being racialized. Topics covers inter-Asian and inter-Chinese racism, the impact of the model minority myth, internalized racism and navigating interdisciplinary identities.
Recordings of Uncomfy Convos are available on Hong Fook’s Instagram page @hfyouthfam.
